Arden Hills lies approximately 8 miles north of the downtown areas of both St. Paul and Minneapolis. The city serves as home to many large corporations, numerous small to medium size businesses, and two private colleges, Northwestern College and Bethel University. Approximately one-third of the city’s land, approximately 4 square miles, was owned by the federal government. In the mid-1990s, the U.S. Army formally declared 585 acres of this land as excess, 430 acres for private redevelopment, and the remainder for green space and other local public use. The remaining 1,785 acres continue to be used by the Army, and the Army Reserve as a training site. Arden Hills offers a mix of existing and new construction options. The cities proximity to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area make it a popular choice for those seeking a suburban feel with access to the downtown area.
